About the Host
Charles Comer has been a Las Cruces local for almost 30 years. He attended Zia Junior High School and graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1982. He then entered the workforce and was employed in various fields, including working as a cook and counter worker at Dairy Queen, a parts assembler at an electronics factory on the graveyard shift, a forklift operator and truck driver, and ten years as a bartender in several Las Cruces establishments. In 1995, he enrolled in the Broadcast Journalism program at New Mexico State University. Immediately following his graduation in 1999, he worked for more than a year as a "one-man-band" reporter for KBIM-TV in Roswell, NM.
KBIM-TV is a sister station to KRQE-TV in Albuquerque, and during his tenure aired several live-shots and news packages on the Albuquerque station. Having acquired extensive field experience shooting, writing, editing, and presenting television news during a "trial by fire" year in Roswell, he then headed back home to Las Cruces to work as the Assistant News Director for KRWG-TV's News22 alongside his college mentor and friend Gary Worth. After six years of teaching students about the ins and outs of television news and producing News22, Charles has stepped out from behind the camera to be the frontman for "Minding Your Business."
In his free time, Charles enjoys working on refurbishing his 80-year-old adobe home in downtown Las Cruces, building furniture, watching movies at home with his wife Susan, spending time with his cats, and texting and talking to his adult daughter Katherine, who lives in Central California.
